Val d'Isere - a pedestrian town

For the past few years and in preparation for the World Championships the town centre of Val d'Isere has been becoming increasingly pedestrianised. Work has continued on this all summer and for or this winter cars and delivery vans / lorries are going to be restricted in the town centre. The roads will no longer be salted and a layer of snow will be left on them so the resort will look wonderfully wintery all season. It'll be great for strolling round the town in the evening.
If you are arriving by car you will be encouraged to leave your car in one of the seven car parks.

Snowy Les Coches!!

Les Coches awoke this morning to snow! After a wet day yesterday and a chillier than chilly night, the snow came down and turned everything white, hurrahhh! Pierra Menta is at 1450 metres so there's a lot more snow up the top of the mountain!
The poor letterbox got a good hat of snow on it, it's strange how quickly the weather does change. By all accounts on the weather forecast, we're due hot weather again in a few days!

If early snow is an indication of a snowy winter, then this one should be tops!!
